Provide leadership to ensure best practices in standard operating procedures and regulatory compliance. Job Responsibilities Responsible for duties and responsibilities required of the Director of Operations as required by FAA Part 119.65(a)(2). Ensure PSA Flight Operations are conducted at the highest level of safety possible. Maintain and improve safety risk management processes within Flight Operations in support of the Safety Management System (SMS). Enforce departmental safety objectives aligned with company goals in coordination with the Safety Department. Maintain compliance with PSA Airlines standards and with governing state regulations. Serve as liaison between flight operations and the FAA/CAA on matters of mutual concern. Coordinate with the Assistant Director of Operations Training and Delivery to ensure safety and standardization. Supervise and support the Manager of Flight Standards and Line Check Airmen. Develop and implement strategies to communicate company goals and department performance to staff. Recommend and communicate operational requirements to the Assistant Director of Flight Operations. Provide R&D, technical expertise, and coordination for new equipment, procedures, and policies. Analyze new products for regulatory compliance, safety, and operational benefits. Supervise, train, monitor, and assess staff performance. Coordinate with Maintenance, vendors, and users to support flight deck avionics during introductions and standardization. Collaborate between Flight Operations and Flight Technical on operational, airframe, and aircraft technology issues. Ensure performance aligns with company goals for optimal NextGen airspace operations. Provide recommendations on modifications to equipment and flight deck configurations. Coordinate new operations specifications and disseminate related information to flight crews. Work with Operations Control Center on MEL, CDL, and Deferred Maintenance programs to ensure reliability. Coordinate Basic Operating Weight procedures with related departments. Coordinate Aircraft Operational Performance procedures with Maintenance and Technical Services. Identify and communicate training needs to the Training Department. Disseminate technical information to flight crews regarding operations, dispatch, maintenance, and ground operations. Maintain Pilot Operating Handbook and Fleet Management publications; oversee Flight Operations Manual updates. Oversee EFB program through appropriate leadership. Attend Director's Meetings and brief the Executive Team on Flight Operations status. Make recommendations for flight operations budgets and evaluate Internal Evaluation Program results. Ensure corporate standards and affirmative action programs are communicated and implemented. Collaborate with Labor Relations and ALPA on matters affecting pilot relations. Manage safety risks and security threats to aircraft operations. Ensure operations comply with AOC conditions, regulations, and standards. Oversee SMS and related safety risk management outputs. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Specifics Qualifications Required Previous 119 authority A pilot holding an Airline Transport Pilot certificate with at least 2 years supervisory or managerial experience Experience writing technical documents or periodical literature Must meet CFR Part 119.67(a) qualification requirements to be the Part 119 Director of Operations, plus Common Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree Be qualified for operations under 14 CFR Part 121 5-8 years' pilot experience with 3 years Pilot-In-Command Part 135 or 121 Airline management or instructing background Understanding of aviation safety standards, operating practices, applicable CFRs, and operations specifications English language proficiency (speaking/reading/writing) Authorized to work in the U.S. if hired Additional Information Supervisory Responsibility: This is a supervisory position. Delegation: In absence, responsibilities delegated to Vice President of Operations. Travel: Travel is required for this position. Authorities: Responsible for overall operational control of the airline (can be delegated to the Chief Pilot) DE/Anti-icing program implementation and processes Manage EFB Program (delegated to Assistant Director of Flight Technical or Fleet Manager) Required Manual Systems (delegated to Assistant Director of Flight Technical) Operational Weight and Balance and Performance systems Performance and discipline of pilots Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. Physical Demands: Regularly required to talk or hear; predominantly sedentary with occasional standing, walking, stairs, lifting up to 25 lbs, and reaching.
